The president of Yannick, Wu Tsung-en, founded the brand, which he named after his French name "Yannick”. In 2000, he started his career as a dessert manufacturer. Then in 2002, he returned to his hometown, Wanli, to open up a shop. The small cake shop in Wanli, a remote place, attracted queues of people, and even became a subject of media coverage. He ventured into Neihu District, Taipei City in 2004, and his shops were still full of customers, creating a miracle in the Taiwanese cake industry.
